Roadtrip to Portland

Griffen and I took a road trip to Portland for Aunt Renae's baby shower. This was a 1st for the both of us and I'm pretty sure that I should have left earlier in the day on Friday. With traffic and all of the potty breaks due to the baby sitting on my bladder it took us over 5 hours.

The trip was well worth the drive because we had a chance to spend time with Renae, Ryan, and the boys. Grandma Sharon, Aunt Janelle, and the girls made the drive from the Tri-cities so it was great to see everyone.

Griffen and Asa played so well together and when we left Griffen said he couldn't wait to see them again.

Although I wish we all lived closer I am happy that we can drive 4-5 hours to the East or to the South to see Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

T-ball Season in full Swing

This is Griffen's 3rd year playing T-ball and he loves it. However, this year he insisted that he wasn't playing T-ball, he was going to coaches pitch. No matter how many times that I tried to explain to him that he has to be 7 for coaches pitch he just wouldn't accept it. Finally it was game day and he had no reservations about hitting the ball off of the T.

I do have to gush a little because last year the coach brought out the pitching machine for a couple of games and Griffen was 1 of 2 kids that could hit from the machine pitch on the 1st try! I'm pretty sure that he has no issues with playing sports due to his eyesight. He is doing just fine!

This season went well but he has voiced his opinion about the T and is more than ready to move on to coaches pitch next year.

We just wrapped up the season and now it's time for a sports rest until the fall when soccer begins again.

Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful day with my sweethearts! Matt made an amazing breakfast of french toast and bacon while I ran to pick up Griffen. It was so nice that I could have both of my boys with me.
Sometimes the best gifts aren't purchased, but they are made and come from the heart. Matt planted a Dogwood in the yard for me. In the next few years it will be gorgeous when it starts to bloom. Griffen made a big Mother's Day card at school and Ms. Yocum included a photo of us together. It was so sweet and I did get a little teary eyed.
Church was so nice today because the talks were all based around mothers and the children sang to us during sacrament.
To top the day off we had dinner with the Templeton's.
It was the best Mother's Day thus far. All I ask for is to spend the day with my husband and children, I couldn't have asked for more!

Griffen's 6th Birthday

Griffen's birthday this year was a hit! We had a pool party at the Lake Stevens pool and Griffen had a blast. This was the perfect location for a party because Griffen was able to invite all of his classmates and friends from church. It was so nice to have Griffen surrounded by friends and family to celebrate his special day.
Griffen sprouted his gills like normal when he gets near water and we couldn't keep him away. As soon as the lifeguard said the kids could get in he was the first one on the diving board. He has absolutely no fear when it comes to swimming and that can be good and bad. We just need to make sure that we never take our eyes of off him when he is near the water.
At Griffen's request we made an ice cream cake with a pirate theme. This was a joint effort in the kitchen between Matt and I. We had a lot of fun making it and Griffen had a smile spread across his face when he saw the finished product.
The day turned out great and everyone had a fantastic time.
