Fractured Skull

No matter how closely you watch your children it is unlikely that they will never get hurt. However, we didn't expect a fractured skull.
As usual Knox was sitting in his bumbo chair on the kitchen table ready for some lunch. I stepped away to grab his food and while my back was turned he leaned over in the chair. He is just heavy enough now that it cause the bumbo to tip and Knox fell from the table and hit his head. I checked his head and did see a small goose egg on the back. I carefully watched him for the rest of the day and he seemed to be ok...kids are so resilient.
When daddy got off shift the next morning he noticed that Knox's head was pretty swollen. We took a trip to visit the pediatrician who had us head to Providence ER. While at Providence we Knox had a CT and it showed that he had a small fracture in his skull.
We were told that it would heal in about a month and because Knox hadn't shown any signs of trauma everything should be just fine.
The bumbo chair was retired to the floor and we bought a booster seat the very next day!

1st Everett Firefighter Breakfast

Matt has now been with the Everett Fire Department for just over 2 months. On June 18th the EFD held their annual family breakfast at the fire station on Madison. Matt was there bright and early to help with the prep work. As a probie it was expected that he would be assisting on his day off but he didn't mind. The kids and I arrived at the breakfast just after 9 and it was amazing to see so many firefighters and their families. Matt has transitioned from a FD of 10 to one of 174. This has been a big change. We were welcomed with open arms and I had the chance to meet many of the guys that he is now working with.
A bounce house was planned but due to the rain it didn't get set up. However, there was a station with firefighter gear sized for the little ones. Griffen had a great time trying on the bunker gear and was so proud to look like Matt.
We had a great time getting to know everyone and the blueberry pancakes were amazing!
